Fly Fish The Surf Report 08-26-2017 – Aboard the Sea Jay

What happens when you take 6 fly fishermen, 5 who have never fly fished off shore, out to the local islands? They all catch fish. We had a great time on the Eric's Tackle charter aboard the Sea Jay where Capt. Donnie and Chauncey (he worked his butt off netting and releasing fish all day) really took care of us. We had bonita, barracuda and calicos all day while the yellowtail never came in close enough to make a cast to. Capt. Donnie even tried iron and live bait but got no takers so we didn't feel too bad. We had great weather of flat seas and no wind for easy fishing. Rob caught a fish but by the time I got my camera out it was back in the water, sorry Rob. I even had time to get a calico or two. We fished some beautiful scenery, my favorite was the twisted skull face on the rocks. We have a charter next month with a few open spots if you want to get your fly fish on. email me at flyfishthesurf@yahoo.com
